    • I understand the hormonal piece but not being a pregnant Mum any more was a bit of a downer for my wife. She loved BEING pregnant and sometimes it's hard to lose that feeling. The 'new baby' experience soon compensated for this though!

    • Both my wife and I suffered with the baby blues for a week, which isn't long compared to others but it lasted forever for us. For me as a new dad, I have over 10 years experience working with babies, children and families, but even that experience didn't prepare me. The only way to describe it is the huge weight of responsibility and expectations on your shoulders, only days before no one relied on me, if I didn't get up early it didn't matter. Suddenly a person's life and existence was entrusted to me. It was really overwhelming and even though I loved my daughter, the burden was huge. I have worked with children that have post traumatic stress disorders and in a sense I think that can be similar the my baby blues as my brain had a serious overload or trauma that it needed to comprehend and configure in order to manage these new dynamics etc. Does that make any sense? Haha! My daughter Amelia is now 3 and is incredible!
