dadzclub, in association with Barefoot books, are about to launch a very exciting month for dads

With Fathers Day around the corner we want to celebrate our unique realationship with our children.

On June 17th we  launch a dadzclub's campaign to encourage more fathers to read to their children in association with Barefoot Books

Experts all agree that dads can play a huge role in their children's literacy and general development by spending time reading to them.  Sharing books can also help promote deeper bonds between fathers and their children in the early years.

To help us get the campaign under way, we’ve enlisted the help of children's book publisher Barefoot Books who will be providing books and expert guidance throughout the month.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be running informative guest articles on child literacy, reviewing the latest titles and holding competitions to win some beautiful Barefoot books.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

To make this campaign a success, we need your help. We're looking for volunteers to become official book reviewers. We need three Dads to test read a selection of children's books and write a short review for publication on our website. We are looking for a dad with children up to  three years old, a dad with 3-7 years olds and someone with  children over seven years old. Of course, join the team and you keep the books!

Please email us at info@dadzclub.com if you'd like to put your name forward. Before you volunteer, make sure you have enough time to read the book with your child and write a short 100 word review within a week of receiving your copy.

We also want to get your views on reading to your children. What tips or warnings can you share about books at bedtime? Leave a comment below.

    • The extraordinary thing about reading to kids is that they never get bored of the same story. In fact, familiarity breeds favourability. My son could recite a whole book aged 3 without being able to read, simply because he had heard it 100's of times.

    • I think this is a fabulous idea. It's also Fathers Story Week (run by The Fatherhood Institute) this week, so it's very timely! My daughter and I read and blog together (not always the same books though!) and it's brilliant! Dad keeps wanting to join in too :)

    • My son is three in July and already has a great affinity with books. He loves stories being read to him and thinks it a huge treat. On a personal level, I think I enjoy it as much as he does...

    • Reading is such an important thing to do with our children and for dads provides a perfect opportunity for bonding. You can never start to early either, we've been reading to our daughter since she was 6 months, now a 14 months she brings books over to us to read to her.
So great cause and great way for you to celebrate fathers day
