    • My daughter was a nightmare and would not settle into a good bedtime routine, she crept into our bed every night until she was 5 years old. My 4 year old son has been competely different, he thrives on routine. We get him ready for bed making sure there are lots of cuddles, read a book together and put his nightlights on, then we tuck him in and leave him to fall asleep by himself. On the odd occasion that he has been ill, I have tried to put him in my bed to keep an eye on him and he really doesn't like it. He always asks to be put back in his own bed after some reassurance. It makes such a difference having a calm bedtime routine.

    • all 4 of mine thrived on bedtime routines. we start well before bedtime so that are plenty of cues for them that bedtime is on the way (the youngest actually like 10, 5 and 1 minute warnings)This of course doesn't work with our two teens who need dynamite under them to shift them at bedtime!

    • Our first born, a boy, is nearly ten months. After six months of irregular sleep we decided to implement a routine. It was great, until he became ill for the first time last week. It upset his routine as we took him into our bed when he was being sick, for obvious reasons. We're now trying to get him back in his routine... Which is proving stressful! I'd advocate a routine, albeit one with some degree of flexibility, if that makes any sense!

    • My youngest two love their bedtime routine of T.T.B.B. that's Toilet,Teeth, Bed and book.
      Then it's a happy snuggle up in bed and sleep, had this routine since 2&3 now they are 5&6.
